First Announcement!

The Johannesburg Paediatric Colorectal Clinic (JPCC) and the Department of Paediatric Surgery at the University of Witwatersrand (WITS) are organizing a Transition of Care Conference for Adult and Paediatric Surgeons.

The conference will be held on the 17-18-19 of October 2024 (Thursday-Saturday). The definitive program is not yet finalized but the plan would be to discuss:

  • 17th October: Anorectal malformations (from neonatal to adult management)
  • 18th October: Hirschsprung disease (from neonatal to adult management)
  • 19th October: functional constipation and spinal patients

The conference will be held at the WITS CLUB.

There will be national and international speakers. The conference is aimed for consultants, fellows, nursing managers and registrars. Because of the venue capacity, we are aiming to cap physical attendance to 100 people and, if more requests are received, to allow the possibility to attend the meeting online with a subscription fee.

We are also planning to have some of the international experts over for some difficult surgical cases that will happen on the 21st and 22nd of October, possibly at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital (CHBAH) and WITS Donald Gordon Medical Centre. The same experts that will join for difficult theatre cases will also be asked to be present at JPCC at CHBAH on Wednesday the 16th of October.
